Privacy Policy
What happens when you use CarMOTX.
Last updated: 20 October 2026
1. Who operates this site?
CarMOTX is an independent UK vehicle-information project, not a DVSA or DVLA service. Operator name and privacy contact: to be completed before public launch. Visitors can use the contact form if it is enabled.
2. Vehicle registration lookups
When you submit a registration, our server uses it to request available MOT history from the DVSA MOT History API and produce an automated report. The registration and returned MOT details may be held temporarily in server memory for up to five minutes to reduce repeated lookups. We do not ask you to create an account for this service. Depending on context, vehicle registration numbers can be personal data.
3. Contact enquiries and technical logs
If you submit our contact form, the hosting provider may store your name, email and message so we can reply. Hosting providers may process IP addresses, request timestamps, device details and security logs. The operator must confirm the hosting provider's log retention and configure deletion schedules for form submissions.
4. Purposes and legal basis
We process lookup requests to provide the service you request, and basic technical information to operate and secure the site. Contact messages are processed to respond to enquiries. Depending on the activity, lawful bases may include legitimate interests or steps requested before entering into a contract; the operator must confirm the applicable bases before public launch.
5. Advertising and cookies
This release includes advertising placements but does not load Google AdSense or advertising trackers by default. If advertising is activated later, this policy will be updated with the provider, purposes, cookie/identifier details, retention and consent controls. For UK/EEA visitors, relevant consent requirements and a Google-certified consent management platform must be addressed before serving Google ads.
6. Sharing and transfers
Vehicle registrations are sent to the DVSA service for the requested lookup. Our hosting provider, Netlify, processes data to serve the site and handle forms. Third-party services may involve transfers outside the UK, subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell visitor contact information.
7. Your rights
UK data protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to certain processing. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. The operator must publish a working privacy contact channel before launch.
