We make recorded MOT information easier to understand, without pretending that an online report replaces a mechanic.

What CarMOTX does
CarMOTX is an independent vehicle-information website. When the live service is connected, it retrieves available MOT records through the DVSA MOT History API, then highlights recorded mileage changes, failed tests, advisories and patterns worth discussing with a seller.
What we do not check
Our free MOT report does not check outstanding finance, stolen-vehicle databases, insurance write-offs, previous accidents, ownership or the current mechanical condition of a vehicle. We do not provide horsepower, acceleration or transmission specifications in this release.
How our analysis works
Automated rules group similar defect descriptions and look for later passing tests and changes in recorded mileage. A repeated category is not proof that the same fault recurred. A later pass does not establish which repairs were completed. Every conclusion should be checked against the original MOT record and the vehicle itself.
Independence and feedback
CarMOTX is not part of, endorsed by or affiliated with DVSA, DVLA or the UK government. Our sample cars are fictional and labelled as such. We welcome corrections and suggestions through our contact page.
